Dear Friends
Our biennial Social Mission Conference held last month received overwhelming response from the Catholic community, filling the St Joseph’s Institution to its brim. Those who came have found the conference insightful and inspiring. Many participants have also shared with us that they now have a clearer understanding between charity and justice, and a better overview of our social responsibility as Catholics. We are indeed heartened by the feedback received.
This month, Caritas Singapore and the Singapore Pastoral Institute jointly bring you our second study guide, Labourers of the Harvest. This is a group study guide on Catholic Social Teaching for working Catholics and provides a quick summary of the ten basic principles of the Catholic Social Teaching. It also explains how these principles can be applied to common and relevant issues in our workplace such as spirituality at work; money matters; workers’ rights; work ethics; peer relationships and much more. If you are interested to learn more about Labourers of the Harvest or sign up for a briefing session, please contact Henry Tsen at 6337 3711 or email him at labourers@caritas-singapore.org.
Those of you who have attended Fr David Garcia’s talk on “What Would Jesus Do” and “Walking the Social Talk” will be pleased to know that Fr David is back to present a talk on “Developing Together - Putting our Catholic Social Teaching into Practice” on every Tuesday in the month of October. In this four-part series on Catholic Social Teaching, Fr David will share on how the Church develops her social doctrine and the main guidelines that our faith offers to inspire our social activities towards building a better world. Don’t forget to register early with Raymond Yong at 6337 3711 or raymond@caritas-singapore.org.
We hope to see you at these events.
God bless!
Bernadette Lau
