Advent 2007 Charity Projects at Parishes

CHURCH OF THE HOLY FAMILY

Families remain our hope for a better tomorrow. Church of the Holy Family will be supporting the work of Marine Parade Family Service Centre (MPFSC) with the theme of “Hope for Families” this Advent.

In the weekend of 1 & 2 December, MPFSC will be manning a booth for parishioners before and after all each Mass. This booth serves to provide information, volunteer opportunities and on-the-spot registration for parishioners keen on volunteering. The programmes target students, youths, elderly and families.

In addition, donation envelopes to support MPFSC will be given to parishioners after communion. These can be collected in the following week or mailed back to the parish.

Key Programmes and Services

Counselling and Social Work
Many seek assistance in stress management, emotional support and personal enhancement and growth. Counselling is provided for individuals or families to lead them to overcome life challenges, and in attaining personal empowerment and growth.

Student Care Service
A safe and caring environment for primary school-age children is provided through quality care programmes where child-oriented, growth-directed intervention strategies are adopted. Programmes and activities are tailor-made for each child according to their own strengths and weaknesses.

Cyber-Counselling for the Youth
This programme provides young people who are not yet ready for, or have no access to face-to-face counselling, with an alternative means of communicating with counsellors. The programme also enhances teenagers' abilities in handling relationships at home and in schools.

Good Life @ South East
This is an elderly wellness centre aimed at promoting productive aging. The centre adopts a holistic-preventive approach for the mobile and healthy elderly where programmes and activities cater to the holistic needs of the elderly, ie body, mind and soul. This includes preventive health care, life-long learning courses including IT education, family life education and inter-generational programmes.
