About RCPM
The Roman Catholic
Prison Ministry (RCPM) was established under the patronage of the
Archbishop of Singapore. It strives to be the compassion of our
heavenly Father for our brothers and sisters in Christ: “I was in prison and you visited me”.
RCPM
seeks to be a source of spiritual and human help to prisoners and
ex-prisoners in order to promote their human and spiritual development.
It offers after-care to those released from prison, through spiritual
and human aid. It also offers friendship to the families of prisoners
to help them cope with the anguish they are experiencing.
RCPM offers
programmes which include paying regular visits to all prisons where
there are Catholic prisoners so as to provide comfort and a listening
ear as a form of encouragement and support. It provides pastoral
and community care through the administering of the Sacraments
especially the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.
In addition, it also provides counselling services to the prisoners
and their families to promote their spiritual and human development
and to help them cope during their incarceration and subsequent
release.
