 Advent 2007 Charity Projects at Parishes
CHURCH OF STs PETER AND PAUL - REACHING OUT TO CARE
As we prepare for the coming of Jesus this Advent, we are
called especially to love and help the less fortunate in our midst.
To do so, the Church of Sts Peter and Paul has joined some of the
other parishes across Singapore in championing an Advent project
to support the work of a Catholic organisation with our time, money
and prayer.
Our theme this year is “Reaching out to CARE” and our
parish has adopted the non-profit organization, Catholic AIDS Response
Effort (CARE) as our Advent project.
“While we are busy preparing for the birth of Christ this Advent,
let us remember our brothers and sisters who will be celebrating
Christmas alone. Estranged from family and friends, some of
these individuals who suffer from HIV / AIDs spend most of their
days struggling with the disease in solitude. Thankfully,
there are organisations like the Catholic AIDs Response Effort
(CARE) that has been set up to help these people. We as a parish can
play our part as well through this Advent project and help touch
the lives of these PWAs.” – Message from Fr Thomas Lim
In the weekend
of 1 & 2 December, donation envelopes for CARE
will be given to parishioners after communion. These can be collected
in the following week or mailed back to the parishes.

About Catholic AIDS Response Effort (CARE)
CARE was formed in 1992 as a lay apostolate ministry. Its
ultimate goal is to reach out to marginalised people with HIV/AIDS
(PWAs) and their families, regardless of race, religion or social standing.
Some of the work that CARE does include giving pastoral care and
counselling, praying with PWAs in their hospital wards or homes and
accompanying them when they go for their medical arrangements. It
also runs awareness programmes in schools and Churches, in the hope
that greater understanding and compassion can be shown towards those
with HIV / AIDS. Through this, CARE hopes to alleviate the pain and
suffering of PWAs and their families. You, too, can help the beneficiaries
of CARE.

Your contribution will help
to alleviate the pain and suffering of AIDs patients
and their families.
Although the mission of CARE never changes, its role
is always evolving. The extent to which this is achieved
is defined and limited by purpose and funds.

It does not matter how much you give because every
giving will go a long way in making a difference to
their lives.
In this project, tax exempt receipts will not apply
and only acknowledgement receipts will be issued for
donations to CARE
