Advent 2007 Charity Projects at Parishes

ST ANNE'S CHURCH - SEASON FOR FAMILIES
“Advent is a time of preparing and waiting for the coming of Jesus our Savior. Jesus came to us in and through an earthly family. Today, Jesus continues to meet us in very concrete ways through the persons and activities of our own family. The family is a place where God often speaks and acts. Advent and Christmas are, therefore, pre-eminently 'family seasons'. It is time when we invite ourselves to reflect on the quality of our family life, the situation of those without family and those who are experiencing great difficulties and brokenness in their family life. That is why the parish of St Anne has chosen to adopt an Advent project that supports family life and family activities. All proceeds from this Advent project will, therefore, go to Morning Star Community Services in support of their family-related activities. Do not take this project as another fund-raising effort but as a way of affirming that healthy families are important because families are the very foundation of our Church and Society. Let Jesus be made present in your family this Advent and most of all, to help other families to experience Jesus' love at this season of hope.

"Come Lord Jesus, be the source of life and strength for all families.
Come Lord Jesus, make our families, yours!”

– Message by Fr James Yeo

With the theme of “Season for Families” at this Advent, St Anne's Church will be supporting the work of the Morning Star Community Services with our time, money and prayers.

During the first weekend of Advent, 1 & 2 December, Morning Star will put up a manned display for parishioners before and after each Mass. This will allow parishioners to learn about Morning Star and to avail themselves of the many family-based programmes of the organisation. During the exhibition, volunteers can also sign up to help with these programmes.

In addition, donation envelopes in support of Morning Star will be given to parishioners after communion. These can be collected in the following week or mailed back to the parish.
