| Fathers of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SS.CC) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Mission The communities take their particular inspiration from the self-sacrificial love, living in the hearts of Jesus and Mary. It is the love they want to contemplate and celebrate prayerfully (especially in the Eucharist), propagate to others and practice also in their own lives. |

| The Congregation in Singapore At the invitation of Archbishop Michael Olcomendy, three Sacred Hearts priests from Holland arrived in Singapore in 1958. One of them, Fr Alfons Bergmans, was appointed as chaplain for sailors, in the Apostleship of the Sea. The other two priests, Fr Bill van Soest and Fr Odo Tiggeloven, were tasked to prepare and start a new parish, Blessed Sacrament Church in Queenstown, Singapore’s first public high-rise housing estate. It began services in 1963 from Damien Hall and the Congregation has - among other things - served this parish till now. The two Singapore communities belong to the Indonesian province SS.CC that has 38 perpetual professed brothers, 37 with temporal profession and 5 novices. |
