The weekend of 27 / 28 February marks the start of Charities Week 2010 which is the annual Archdiocesan fundraising campaign during the season of Lent. 

All proceeds raised will support the work of Caritas Singapore and the Catholic charities and organisations under its umbrella.

Collectively, they serve more than 50,000 people including the poor and destitute, migrant workers, families and children, people with HIV/AIDS and prisoners. This is regardless of race, language or religion.  

In his Lenten message, Archbishop Nicholas Chia emphasises the importance of charity in our faith and the need for every Catholic to identify with those who are less fortunate. Almsgiving implies a material service rendered to the poor for Christ's sake. Your support and generous donations are much needed to help the Catholic charities and organisations to grow their programmes and services and widen their charitable outreach.  

To donate, pick up a Charities Week 2010 appeal envelope from your parish or download the form. You may wish to drop your donation envelope in your parish offertory box or mail it directly to Caritas Singapore (cheques only). Kindly indicate if you would like tax exemption for your donation, and provide us with your NRIC number for our processing. According to the Budget 2010 announcement, the enhanced Tax deduction of 250 per cent is extended for another year for donations made during the period from 1 Jan 2010 to 31 Dec 2010.
