In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Neptune Orient Lines Limited (NOL) handed out a total of $1 million to ten Singapore charities in January 2008.
The charities each received $100,000 from the Neptune Beyond Boundaries Trust (NBBT) at a special presentation ceremony held at NOL’s headquarters. The event was graced by Mr Teo Ser Luck, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports. |
The ten beneficiary organisations were Boy’s Town Singapore, Canossaville Children’s Home (an affiliate member of Caritas Singapore), Care Corner Family Service Centre, Children’s Cancer Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Minds Towner Gardens School, Rainbow Centres, Sailability Singapore, Spastic Children’s Association and the Student Advisory Centre.
NOL’s donations are an important part of NOL’s global CRS programmes, which seeks to enable care for disadvantaged elderly people, create opportunities for children and youths in need,, and assist talented athletes with disabilities.
The Neptune Beyond Boundaries Trust was established in 2004. It aims to help Singapore’s youth to develop their potential and to provide day-to-day support for elderly and disabled citizens. In addition to contributions from the NOL Group, the Trust has been boosted by donations from NOL employees and other stakeholders since its inception. Donations from NOL employees have been matched three-to-one by the Company.
