My Advent Gift 2006 was the first project by the Catholic Social and Community Council (CSCC) after its launch in November 2006. As the newly formed social and community umbrella body of the Archdiocese of Singapore, we have experienced the generosity and warmth of the community during this project. |
It was a project in partnership with the Singapore Pastoral Institute (SPI) to reach out to
the parish community. Together with SPI, CSCC produced the booklet “Living for Others”
to reach out and encourage more Catholics to take the time to reflect individually or as a
group on the true meaning of Advent. These booklets were distributed to all parishioners
in Singapore.
An appeal envelope for donations was placed at the back of the booklet. More than 3,200
envelopes were returned.
The project raised more than S$750,000. The breakdown of the amounts raised from
parishes is as follows:
