Theme:
"Transforming Ourselves and Society in Charity and Justice."
What is it about?
Does it matter whether we give to the poor and needy out of kindness of our heart or because we believe
that it is their due? The Church’s teachings draw a distinction between the two virtues of charity and justice.
The challenge for us is to be a voice for the poor and needy and to seek what is due to them. In performing
works of charity in justice, we are promoting true human development.
This conference, centred on the belief that every person is to live life with dignity, will help us to understand
how charity and justice go hand in hand in building the common good. It will challenge us to take a deeper
look at the social norms and the role each individual plays in developing a cohesive society that cares.
